Frequently Asked Questions.

We know hiring a web design and marketing agency comes with questions. Below you'll find answers to the most common things business owners ask us about working together, our services, and what to expect.

Don't see your question? Give us a call or book a free consultation and we'll answer it directly.

Getting Started & Onboarding

It starts with a free discovery call. We'll spend about an hour learning about your business, your goals, your audience, and what you're trying to accomplish. From there, we put together a proposal with a clear scope, timeline, and pricing. No obligation, no pressure.

Most projects kick off the same day you sign up. We get right to work. If there is a wait on the actual project work, which happens from time to time, we'll let you know before the quote is accepted. Even if there is a wait, we begin the onboarding process immediately so we're ready to jump in as soon as a spot opens up.

It depends on the project, but typically we'll need access to your current website (if you have one), your logo and brand files, any content or photos you want to use, and login credentials for services like your domain registrar, hosting, Google Analytics, and Google Business Profile. We'll send you a simple onboarding checklist so nothing gets missed.

No. We can write your content for you if you'd prefer. Most of our clients have us handle the copywriting because we know how to write for both your audience and search engines. If you want to provide your own content, we'll optimize it for SEO and make sure it fits the design.

Contracts & Billing

Website design projects have a project-based agreement that covers the scope, timeline, and deliverables. Ongoing services like SEO, social media management, and website management are month-to-month. We keep your business because we earn it, not because you're locked in.

For website projects, we typically require a deposit to begin work with the remaining balance split into milestones or due upon final approval before launch. Ongoing services like SEO, social media, and website management are billed monthly. We accept credit cards, ACH transfers, and checks. We'll walk through the payment structure during the proposal stage so there are no surprises.

Just give us 10 days notice. There are no cancellation fees and no penalties. If you're on a website management or SEO plan, we'll make sure the transition is smooth and hand over everything you need to continue on your own or with another provider.

Yes. Your website, your content, your domain, and every login credential is yours. We don't hold anything hostage. If you ever decide to move on, we'll provide everything you need to make the transition smooth. The only thing to keep in mind is that hosting is a separate service. If you're on our managed hosting, you'd either need to continue that plan or migrate your site to a new hosting provider, which we're happy to assist with.

Website Design

It depends on the size and complexity of the project. A professional business website with service pages, contact forms, and SEO foundation is less than most people expect. We'll give you a clear quote during our strategy call based on exactly what your business needs.

Most websites take 30 to 45 days from kickoff to launch. Smaller sites can be faster, larger or more complex projects may take longer. We build on a staging server while your current site stays live, so there's no downtime during the process.

Yes. WordPress powers over 40% of the web and gives you full ownership, flexibility, and the largest ecosystem of tools and plugins. We've been building on WordPress since 2010 and it's the best platform for businesses that want a site they actually own and control.

Every website we build is designed mobile-first. That means we design for phone screens first and then scale up to tablets and desktops. More than half of all web traffic comes from mobile devices, so this isn't optional. Your site will look and function great on every screen size.

Yes. It's your website. At launch, you'll be given full login credentials, and if you want to be hands-on we'll include an hour of one-on-one Zoom training or provide written documentation along with a video library so you can learn at your own pace.

That said, most of our clients opt for our Peace-of-Mind Website Management plan. If you need a website update, just submit a ticket or give us a call and we'll take care of it. We also handle all the backend software updates, security patches, and maintenance so your website stays running the way it should. Learn more about website management.

SEO & Search Visibility

SEO is a long-term strategy, not an overnight fix. Most clients start seeing measurable improvements in rankings and traffic within 3 to 6 months, with results compounding over time. The timeline depends on your industry, competition, and how established your website is. We set expectations honestly from the start.

No, and you should be cautious of any agency that does. Google's algorithm considers hundreds of factors and no one can guarantee a specific ranking position. What we can guarantee is a data-driven strategy, consistent execution, transparent reporting, and a track record of delivering real results for our clients.

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization. While traditional SEO focuses on ranking in Google's standard search results, GEO focuses on getting your business cited in AI-generated answers from platforms like Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity. We optimize for both so your business shows up no matter how people are searching. Learn more about our SEO services.

Yes. Google Ads stop the moment you stop paying. SEO builds long-term organic visibility that continues to drive traffic even when your ad budget pauses. The best strategy is usually both working together: ads for immediate leads, SEO for sustainable growth.

Absolutely. Google Business Profile optimization is a core part of our local SEO services. We optimize every detail of your listing, publish regular posts, manage your review strategy, and monitor your local rankings across your service area. Learn more about GBP optimization.

Digital Marketing & Advertising

It varies by industry and competition. Some businesses see strong results with $500 to $1,000 per month in ad spend, while others in competitive markets may need more. We'll analyze your market and recommend a budget that makes sense for your goals during our strategy call. Our management fee is separate from your ad spend.

Yes. We build and manage targeted ad campaigns on both platforms. This includes audience targeting, ad creative, budget management, and ongoing optimization. We can also handle remarketing campaigns that follow up with people who've already visited your website or engaged with your content.

Social media management is the organic side: creating content, publishing posts, engaging with followers, and managing your brand presence. Social media advertising is paid: running targeted ad campaigns to reach new audiences beyond your existing followers. Most businesses benefit from both, but they serve different purposes. Learn about our social media services.

We set up conversion tracking from day one so every phone call, form fill, and lead is tracked back to the specific campaign and keyword that generated it. You'll receive clear monthly reports showing exactly what your ad spend produced, and we schedule regular strategy calls to review performance and adjust as needed.

Website Support & Management

We don't disappear. We offer ongoing website management that covers updates, security, hosting, backups, and support. Most of our clients stay with us long-term because their site continues to evolve as their business grows. Learn about website management.

Log in to your support desk and submit a ticket. Most requests are handled same day, and more complex tasks are typically completed within the week. You can also call or email us directly if you need something urgently.

We monitor your site 24/7 and get alerted immediately if it goes down. In most cases, we identify and resolve the issue before you even know it happened. Our hosting infrastructure includes automatic failover so downtime is minimized. If it's a code or plugin issue, we jump on it right away.

Hosting can be bundled with your management plan or purchased separately. Our managed hosting includes SSD NVMe storage, a regional CDN, load balancing, SSL, and daily backups. We'll walk you through the options during your strategy call. Learn more about hosting.

Absolutely. We work with businesses and even other agencies that come to us for quick one-off help with their websites. Just submit a support ticket and we'll take care of it.

Working With Us

We do. While many of our clients are local to Northern Virginia and the DMV area, we work with businesses across the country and internationally. Everything we do can be handled remotely, from strategy calls to project delivery.

We've worked with over 275 brands across a wide range of industries including construction, healthcare, legal, restaurants, eCommerce, nonprofits, real estate, home services, and more. Our process is flexible enough to adapt to any industry, and we take the time to understand what makes your business different.

Yes. You'll work directly with Adam throughout the entire project. We're not a large agency where you get passed between account managers and departments. When you call or email, you're talking to the person who actually builds and manages your website.

We've been doing this since 2008. We're a small, focused agency that treats every client like a long-term partner, not a ticket number. You get direct access to the person doing the work, honest recommendations (even if that means telling you what you don't need), and a level of care and attention that larger agencies can't match. Our clients stay with us for years because we earn their trust every month.
